Frequently Asked Questions

For families new to the district, each student will require the following (click on links for more detail):
- Proof of Residency (2 forms)
- Birth Certificate
- Photo ID (Parent/Guardian)
- Home Language Survey
- Release of Records from previous schools.
- Immunizations/Physicals
- Transportation Request (Grades K-12)
Existing families will need to provide only those documents specific to the new student.

If you do not have the capability of scanning/photographing the required documents, you can complete the online registration and set up an in-person meeting with the appropriate registrar to complete the process.

Parents with students already enrolled in Salem School District can use the Parent Portal to add a new student. All of your current information will be pre-populated in the form and you may submit any updates. Login to the portal, click the "more" link and then select Online Registration.

Elementary school placement is determined by street address. View the Elementary Street to School list to determine your neighborhood school.

No, students in the 4-year-old Salem Preschool Program will be automatically entered into kindergarten for the following school year.

No, the district provides tuition-free kindergarten at all five elementary schools.

Children who will be five years of age before October 1 of the school year are eligible to attend.
